Fire Chief Lawrence L. Kerley October 24,1905 - August 21,1942
Chief Kerley died from injuries after an explosion at a bulk fuel facility on July14,1942
Lieutenant Wayne E. Yarborough March7,1946 –March 5, 2006
Lieutenant Yarborough died from cardiac arrest at his home after responding to a brush fire.
Wayne was a 38 year veteran of the Waynesville Fire Department.
Chief Kerley and Lieutenant Yarborough have been added to the North Carolina Fallen Firefighter Memorial in May 2007 for more information www.ncfff.org
